The Taliban government in Afghanistan cracks down on illegal trade. Afghan intelligence officials dumped thousands of liters of alcohol in a sewer in Kabul.

The barrels with the smuggled alcohol were confiscated in the course of a raid in the capital, the Afghan secret service said on Twitter on Sunday. A total of around 3,000 liters of alcohol were disposed of by secret service employees in a sewer in Kabul. Three men were arrested in connection with this. The Taliban have been cracking down on the illegal sale of alcohol since they came to power.

“Muslims really need to stay away from the manufacture and supply of alcohol,” said a religious scholar in a video released by the agency. The sale and consumption of alcohol were also banned under the previous Taliban government.

Authorities in Afghanistan also repeatedly target drug addicts

However, the Islamists are taking much stricter action against it. Since they came to power in mid-August, the number of police raids across the country has increased. The authorities repeatedly target drug addicts.

In September, a video made the rounds on social media showing the Taliban discovering an alcohol supply. They misused the find in a video for propaganda against a political opponent. A fact check shows: The Taliban spread false information in it.
