The holiday on Thursday gives many people in Germany a long weekend. Where is the weather suitable for a sunny trip?

Hoch Thomas ensures friendly spring weather in many places just in time for Ascension Day and the days that follow Germany. While it will be warm and sunny, especially in the southwest, it will remain cooler in the northeast, according to the German Weather Service (DWD). There may also be occasional rain there over the weekend.

“Especially in the west and southwest, daily highs of over 25 degrees will be reached at the weekend,” said DWD meteorologist Jacqueline Kernn on Wednesday in Offenbach. With largely dry and often sunny weather, the conditions for all kinds of excursions are very good. “With water temperatures between 12 and 15 degrees, the bathing lakes only invite hardy swimmers to splash around.”

The forecasts in detail

A lot of sunshine is expected for Father’s Day on Thursday (Ascension Day), along with some cumulus clouds and it will remain largely dry. The maximum values ​​are between 17 and 23 degrees, but according to the DWD it stays cooler at sea. In addition, a mostly weak wind blows from the northwest in the north and from the northeast in the south.

On Friday the sky in the north and east will be cloudy or even partly cloudy. According to the forecast, some rain may fall locally in the northeast. After a sunny start, loose cumulus clouds are expected in the remaining parts of the country.

Meteorologists expect a lot of sun in the southwest. Temperatures are 15 to 20 degrees in the north, otherwise it can be significantly warmer at 21 to 26 degrees. There is a light wind, blowing from the northwest in the northern half and from increasingly easterly directions in the southern half.

On Saturday the sky in the northeast will remain mostly cloudy, with occasional rain. According to the DWD, it is clear, partly sunny and dry in the rest of the country. The maximum temperatures are between 20 and 26 degrees. It stays cooler in the very northeast, as well as at the sea and in the mountains. There is also a predominantly light wind blowing from the northeast to the east.

At the beginning of next week the calm weather will be over. According to the DWD, the risk of severe thunderstorms with heavy rain, hail and squalls increases from the southwest.
