Immutable launches Polygon-powered zkEVM mainnet in Early Access

Immutable, the web3 gaming platform, has launched the Immutable zkEVM mainnet in Early Access mode for select game studios and ecosystem partners.

Immutable and Polygon announced thatThey developed zkEVM in March last year. Secured by validators who stake Polygon’s Matic tokens, Immutable zkEVM uses zk-rollup technology for compatibility with Ethereum apps while working separately from the Pro’s existing StarkEx-based Layer 2. Immutable X

zkEVM, or zero-knowledge Ethereum Virtual Machine, is a layer 2 scaling solution that uses zero-knowledge proofs for more efficient Ethereum transactions. Immutable But it lacks native compatibility with the Ethereum blockchain.

Blockchain specifically for gamers

A list of games including Guild of Guardians, Metalcore, Shardbound, Treeverse, Cool Cats, BADMAD Robots, Space Nation, Eyeball Games, and Imaginary Ones are said to be the first to launch on Immutable zkEVM.

“This is a network built specifically for gamers and game studios. And our development team reviews every step of the way to adapt every aspect for gamers,” Robbie Ferguson, co-founder of Immutable, said in a statement. “Over the past 12 months, more than 200 games have committed to Building on Immutable has resulted in our market share reaching nearly 70%, and 2024 will be the year many of these games launch. And we will see tens of millions of players experience these games.”

Immutable’s current products will be compatible with Immutable zkEVM and the network will offer off-gas functionality for gamers using the Immutable Passport non-custodial wallet.
