The expulsion of the imam, accused of having preached anti-France, was confirmed this Friday March 29 by the Council of State.

“We will go, if necessary, to the European Court of Human Rights, we will go there.” Imam Mahjoub Mahjoubi reacted on BFMTV to the decision rendered by the Council of State which confirmed his expulsion from French territory following remarks deemed anti-France.

“We are not finished, there are other jurisdictions, we will not give up, we will go to the end. You have not finished hearing about Mahjoub Mahjoubi, it will continue,” assures the imam on our antenna.

“I have always defended the values of the Republic”

The cleric, however, affirms that the minister “rejoiced too quickly”, believing that “the only thing I am being criticized for today is supposedly my degrading remarks about the place of women in society.”

“The charges of radical terrorism, comments against the French flag, against the Jewish community… All of this was dismissed by the Council of State,” Mahjoub Mahjoubi still declares on BFMTV.

“I have never downgraded the values of the Republic, I have always defended the values of the Republic, I have always said that every Muslim must refer to the values of the Republic,” adds Mahjoub Mahjoubi.

Also evoking “enormous pressure” on his family who are still in France, the imam assures that he will not repatriate them to Tunisia: “I will fight to the end to assert their rights if France is still the cradle of human rights.

Mahjoub Mahjoubi finally assures, in the event that he could return to France, that he “will no longer occupy the position of imam or preacher, nor anything at all”.
