The images of Ukrainian children fleeing war move everyone. Matthias Distel, known as Ikke Hipgold, wants to help. He sets out for the Polish-Ukrainian border to help many other refugees in addition to little Artriom.

Ikke Hipgold, party hit singer and music producer, wants to bring hundreds of Ukrainian refugees to Germany and place them in safe custody.

“After the Russian attack on a nuclear power plant, he decided on Friday to cancel an appearance that same evening in South Tyrol and to help,” his business partner Dominik de León told dpa. It is heartbreaking to see the pictures of Ukrainian children fleeing war.

“More than 1000 beds have already been confirmed”

On Sunday, hip gold drove to the Polish-Ukrainian border with two buses and five other vehicles. Two buses followed on Monday. Since Friday, an “incredible” number of people had agreed to take in Ukrainians via Hipgold’s Summerfield Kids Foundation and social media: “We’ve already been promised more than 1,000 beds.”

Hip gold published another post a few hours ago. It tells the story of the little boy Artriom. Artriom fled the war zone in Ukraine with his mother. Hipgold writes about the picture: “Two people who become a symbol of an incredible rescue operation for me. In the picture you can see Artriom, he is one and a half years old. We picked him up with his mom at the Ukrainian border yesterday. His father remains in the war zone and defend the freedom of Ukraine and therefore the freedom of all of us!!”

The refugee crisis is forging nations together. In addition to Hip Gold, many other helpers are also involved, such as Ula Casselman, says the Schlager singer: “She is Polish, lives in my home town of Eschhofen, has a family herself and accompanied us as an interpreter on our first aid campaign to Poland. Artriom now lives with Ula his mom. I wish for millions of such pictures and would like to thank all the lovely people who have supported and will support us, the Summerfield Kids Foundation, in our mission.(…) The next buses have just arrived and are already bringing another 130 mothers and children to us in Germany.”
