Igitte sisters: “We’ve always been punks.” – Culture

It’s Friday morning, the sun is shining, and I’m with the photographer Apollonia T. Bitzan in a Golf on the way from Vienna to the Bavarian capital of Munich, known for its cozy beer gardens, the smell of white sausage and the most expensive rents in Germany. We want to go to Schwabing, the Yuck sisters visit, two legends of the southern German subculture, myths of the Munich underground. Anyone who has a penchant for original people and experimental language games bows to the icons and their publication in the magazine ugh. I met the sisters for the first time in 2015: As a little-known young author, I was invited to the Munich gallery “Huren und Söhne” for a reading, as were the two sisters Yvonne and Susy Klos, who were giving a performance there. After their performance, it was clear to me: This is the most extraordinary artist duo that I will ever meet in my life.
