You have to imagine the VW ID.7 as a kind of stretch limousine. It looks as if the compact ID.3 had been stretched to five meters in length. This doesn’t necessarily make the rubber boat design any better: chubby shapes with the familiar smiley face, plus a huge, arched roof that ends in a stubby tail after the rear wheels. Is this still a classic sedan or more of a hatchback coupe in the style of the Audi A7? And who is this new ID top model aimed at? As with the Mercedes EQS and EQE, more conservative (limousine) customers are likely to shy away from the sober, futuristic shapes. And the sucked VW doesn’t have much overtaking prestige to offer either.
