The favorite for the title clearly prevailed in the decider. Now it comes to the Bavarian derby in the final.

With a perfect performance, title favorite EHC Red Bull Munich got in shape for the playoff final of the German Ice Hockey League.

The first in the main round outclassed the Grizzlys Wolfsburg 7:2 in the decider on Wednesday evening and put a clear exclamation mark on the opponent in the final, ERC Ingolstadt. “We can look forward to Friday with a broad chest,” said Munich’s Maximilian Kastner at Magentasport.

Two days after the decisive semi-final (7:30 p.m./Magentasport), Ingolstadt, second in the table after regular time, is coming to the Isar in the first of seven possible finals for the Bavarian derby. “It will be a top series,” announced Kastner.

While opponents Ingolstadt were able to beat Adler Mannheim 4-2, Munich needed seven games against Lower Saxony. “It was a rollercoaster of emotions,” Kastner described the semi-final against the Grizzlies from Wolfsburg. “We were dominant, but due to our lack of efficiency we have to put our own noses to it.”

In the main round, Munich won four times against Upper Bavaria and that’s not the only reason why they are the favorites in the final series. The team of coach oldie Don Jackson impressed against Wolfsburg on Wednesday with 7:2. “We came out like the fire brigade. We avoided the small mistakes and did a lot of things right,” explained Kastner. “We were clearly the better team for 55 minutes and deserved to get through.”
