The Eisbären Berlin narrowly won again against the Straubing Tigers and can make the final on Sunday. Defending champions EHC Red Bull Munich are back in Bremerhaven.

The Eisbären Berlin are still missing a win to reach the German playoff final Ice hockey league. The capital club also narrowly won the third match against the Straubing Tigers 3:2 (2:1, 1:1, 0:0) and leads the best-of-seven series 3:0.

On Sunday, the record champions can make the final perfect with another success in Straubing. Defending champion EHC Red Bull Munich, on the other hand, shortened the score to 1:2 with a convincing 4:0 (1:0, 1:0, 2:0) at the Fischtown Pinguins from Bremerhaven.

After the two defeats at the start of the series, champions Munich got off to a better start in Bremerhaven. Konrad Abeltshauser gave the guests the lead after seven minutes. Trevor Parkes was able to increase the score for the Söderholm team in the second half (25th minute).

Strong game from goalkeeper Niederberger

Unlike in the previous two meetings, the hosts from Seestadt were unable to take advantage of good opportunities and were repeatedly denied by the strong national goalkeeper Niederberger. Bremerhaven’s Christian Wejse missed the best chance to connect when he only hit the post (52′). National players Maxi Kastner (53rd) and Chris DeSousa (58th) made the well-deserved away win perfect.

In Berlin, the Eisbären’s duel with the Straubing Tigers was once again close, but the hosts were the winners again. After goals from Ty Ronning (10th) and Yannick Veilleux (17th), coach Serge Aubin’s team was 2-0 ahead. After Cole Fonstad made it 2-1 (18th), Marcel Noebels restored the two-goal lead (22nd). Despite constant pressure in the final minutes, the Tigers couldn’t do more than make it 2-3 thanks to Adrian Klein (34′).
