The IAA’s charm offensive includes bringing musicians and artists to the city in addition to mobile vehicles. One of them: Stefan Sagmeister. The graphic designer stands for beauty in times of ugliness. What does he think will happen next in the world?
At the first Munich IAA, the mobility show filled Königsplatz – after all, one of the most important cultural and historical places the city has to offer – with gigantomaniac, brightly colored exhibition stands. In 2023 a little space was left between the Glyptothek and the Propylaea. And on several evenings, thousands of people listen to concerts with free admission. The trade fair’s new charm offensive also includes bringing together interesting creative people in the supporting program who primarily have nothing to do with vehicles. Stefan Sagmeister is one of them. The graphic designer, artist and typographer came to present the limited edition illustrated book “Always Unconventional”, which was published to mark 25 years of “Smart”.
