“I was betrayed by the boys”, laments Maxime, eliminated from the anniversary season

Maxime, the ex-adventurer of The War of the Chiefs, left Koh-Lanta, the legend during the episode broadcast Tuesday evening on TF1. The 30-something returns for 20 minutes on his journey in the show

Was your elimination during the counseling a surprise for you?

I didn’t expect that at all because we had made a deal with the guys to vote against a woman. Claude, every time we passed each other on the island told me that we were united. He unsoldered well during the vote, convincing Phil and Sam to vote against me. I thought the board was going to be okay when not at all. I was betrayed by the boys. At the time, I did not realize. For me, it wasn’t possible to lie so easily, looking me in the eye and playing a double game like that. They were trying to hide that other alliances were forming, hence the bogus explanations given to me.

You did not hesitate to go to the island of the banished …

No ! (laughs) When we come out of a council where we have just been betrayed and we read the words “You can only count on yourselves”, we say to ourselves that at least there will be truth. For me it was like a Christmas present. I first spent three days with Ugo and Karima before going to the arena. We had a good discussion. I explained to Ugo why I voted against him. And we lived our daily life as “survivors”. The three of us talked about a lot of things, we had a great time trying to eat as best we could.

You then saw Clémentine arrive …

Honestly, I thought the yellows were going to lose, so I didn’t expect to see a red come in. But it was plausible that in the reds Clémentine would be in the sights quickly.

The defeat in the arena was played for what. To the mind? In the freshness?

It’s not a question of mind because I fought until the last second, I never give up. It’s just a matter of logic. Vertical construction is not for me, it had already hurt me in The war of the chiefs where we had to build a column and we lost that ordeal.

If you could go back, what would you do differently?

If I could go back in time, maybe I would ask Denis Brogniart to do two mixed teams instead. Maybe if I had switched to the reds rather than the yellows I would have had a longer life.
