There is one place available for the German ESC preliminary round. Who gets this will be decided on February 8th among just three acts.

Preliminary decision for the preliminary decision: On February 8th, viewers of “I want to go” will judge ESC! – The decision about which act will get a place in “Eurovision Songcontest – The German Finale 2024” – and thus the chance to represent Germany at this year’s ESC. But the decision will only be made between Anne Im (27), Luca M. Wefes (23) and Floryan (28), because the last finalist of the show, Bibiane Z., is out due to illness, as the responsible NDR announces.

“The candidates worked intensively on the songs and performances in their teams,” explains Andreas Gerling, head of the ARD team for the ESC at NDR, in a press release. “It’s a shame that Bibiane can’t be there and therefore can’t be elected. We all wish her a speedy recovery from the bottom of our hearts!”

Will Conchita Wurst or Rea Garvey win with an act?

The final acts will present their potential ESC songs on Thursday. These are part of the docutainment format “I want to go to the ESC!” – since the end of January available in the ARD media library – created in collaboration with the coaches Conchita Wurst (35) and Rea Garvey (50). The audience will decide via televoting and online voting which of the acts will ultimately take part in the final ESC preliminary round www.eurovision.de.

The preliminary round, moderated by Laura Karasek (41), can be seen on Thursday from 10 p.m. on NDR television and in the media library. “Eurovision Song Content – The German Finale 2024”, the real preliminary decision, will be shown on February 16th from 10:05 p.m. on Erste, on ONE, on “www.eurovision.de” and in the ARD media library. Barbara Schöneberger (49) will moderate.

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and the public television company SVT announced last summer that the upcoming ESC would take place in Malmö. The final of the Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 11, 2024. The two semi-finals will take place on May 7th and May 9th.
