“I have no lessons to learn”, replies Rachida Dati to her ex-colleague François Baroin

Little chance that they will go on vacation together. The tone is rising between the new minister (ex-LR) of culture, Rachida Dati, and the mayor (still LR) of Troyes, François Baroin. The latter launched the first dig on Friday against his former colleague, excluded from the party after joining the government. The minister responded on Monday: as told by BFM-TV.

“Frogs” attracted by the “mermaid song”

“It’s always surprising to see people who board the “Titanic” with a smile, especially when we know the end of the story,” François Baroin quipped, believing that “the macronie [allait] explode”, putting an end to Rachida Dati’s dreams of conquering the mayor of Paris, according to him. “Mayor of Paris, it’s a perspective that is fading away for her,” he estimated in The Flash East.

The new minister has never hidden her ambition to take control of the capital in place of her sworn enemy, the socialist Anne Hidalgo. In the 2020 municipal elections, the latter won quite comfortably: 48% against 34% in favor of her right-wing opponent.

Rachida Dati did not appreciate it and wanted to respond on her X account (ex-Twitter) by comparing François Baroin to an “heir […] who at decisive moments walked away, both for our political family and for the country.” The mayor of Troyes was, for a time, a potential candidate for the presidency of the Republic for his party, without ever committing.

Among the pleasantries shared, François Baroin also compared the minister to one of those “frogs who jumped out of the wheelbarrow”, attracted by the “siren song”. Rachida Dati denounced “unworthy” comments, firmly assuring: “I have no lessons to learn”. Will there be a sequel?
