From our special correspondent in Rotterdam (Netherlands)

This week, Barbara Pravi’s agenda is extremely dense. While she will be on the Ahoy Rotterdam stage on Saturday night in the Eurovision final where she will sing here, the representative of France goes on rehearsals and interviews at a steady pace. On Tuesday, the singer-songwriter gave some time to 20 minutes who asked him to answer questions sent by readers. Here are some of his answers gleaned during the interview
visible in full here.

How did you feel the first time on the Eurovision Song Contest? (Roman)

It was super impressive, I did not expect her to be so tall, she is ten times more than during the French selection. I measure 1m59 so on a huge stage, I am really very small. Usually the camera is three meters away from me, there it is thirty meters away. So everything is much bigger. We’re trying to do something very intimate. It’s quite astonishing but I have my team who are with me, my scenography is very minimalist, I feel good in this smallness even if the rest around is very large.

Why did you wait this year to participate in Eurovision? (Joanne)

I felt I was ready. here is a song that I wanted to offer to all those viewers who don’t know me and will meet me through this song. For me, it was the prettiest gateway to me, my music, my universe… To the French language too, which I defend through my songs. There are times in life when, you don’t really know why, you can go right or left and the direction you are taking is right or wrong. I know this decision was the right one. It’s an instinct, I can’t explain it.

Why won’t there be more special effects in your scenography? (Sylvain)

I chose to do a very sober scenography. It’s a song that fits on the text and the interpretation, it was very important that the central point of the scenography be me. Not “me Barbara”, but my way of interpreting, my gestures, my face. The emotion that emerges from my performance… It had to be a work of precision and accompaniment, of embellishment in a way, of my vocal performance.

Although the goal is to live your performance to the fullest and be satisfied with it, below which ranking would you be disappointed? (Arnaud)

I believe, I hope, that I will not be disappointed. I’m going to do my job, what I know how to do, which is to say sing, the best I can. I have worked with teams that have done an exceptional job. My goal is to have no regrets and I know I won’t have any. After that, obviously, it’s a little nutty performance, I want to say, because Eurovision is a big machine in which it is allowed to do some pretty fantastic things and me, what I propose, c on the contrary, it is very natural, very human. Suddenly, it passes or it breaks. Obviously, I have good hope that the emotion that I put in my music can reach on a large scale and to make a first place or a Top 5. After, if I make 11, 12 or 13, it is the play.
