Hype over: provider of immersive Van Gogh exhibitions is broke – culture

Frida Kahlo, Gustav Klimt, Claude Monet: Millions of people visited immersive exhibitions after the pandemic. The organizer company is now facing the end.

In the spring of 2021, as the world gradually emerged from the Corona winter, people obviously felt the need to immerse themselves in art. In cities large and small, “immersive” exhibitions emerged, in which famous paintings were projected onto walls, ceilings and floors to fill the room, accompanied by music and sometimes scent. Above all, the works of very popular artists – Frida Kahlo, Gustav Klimt, Claude Monet – were transformed into light installations by various providers and, according to their own statements, sold millions of tickets. Flowery Van Gogh shows were particularly popular. The provider of this “original” show is now broke. At the end of July, Lighthouse Immersive filed for bankruptcy in Delaware, according to the Bloomberg news agency.
