Light: the secret to a magical Christmas decoration?
When we think of “outdoor Christmas decoration”, we most often think first of light decorations. Ideally, though, garden decor should be as magical during the day as it is at night. If light plays an important role, be careful not to rely exclusively on it!
Miniature trees, wreaths and garlands remain essential to highlight the entrance. This year, we are particularly fond of plant garlands, which we mix with light garlands. Followers of tradition will opt for fir or mistletoe branches. You may, however, prefer other species, for a look that is just as rustic, but more contemporary.
Candles are one of the essentials for decorating windows for Christmas. They also advantageously replace light garlands to stage the entrance. The good idea is to play the accumulation card, by combining different formats, and adding lanterns and tealight holders. In order to avoid a tedious “lighting up” operation every evening (and any risk of incident!), we of course favor LED models.
Luminous animals are one of the classics. However, the reindeer (with or without a sled!) is today a little outdated. This year, we allow ourselves a touch of fantasy in the garden, by inviting unexpected animals, such as the alpaca. If you really fall for reindeer, think about an offbeat setting, for example by choosing a reindeer skiing.
No need to overdo it to create a magical decor in the garden! Fans of minimalism can fall for the luminous star – an iconic holiday motif with a rather refined design. The good idea is to collect, combining different formats. They can mark out a path as well as illuminate the lawn.
Natural decoration and DIY are among the major decoration trends for Christmas 2023. That’s good: these two trends go perfectly together, especially when it comes to creating a festive atmosphere in the garden.
Wool, bells and driftwood are enough to create a beautiful alternative to the traditional Christmas wreath. To display the trees, we divert beautiful basketwork. And we arrange a few light garlands and ornaments to add the final touch to the whole.
Traditionally, we decorate the Christmas tree. However, nothing prohibits decorating the trees in the garden – quite the contrary! Recycled glass jars fitted with LED candles make light decorations that are easy to make and have maximum effect.
Decorating the entrance to the house is good. Decorating windows is even better! So we bring out the planters, which we garnish with moss for the occasion, and we create pretty compositions.
In the case of large windows, do not hesitate to associate your creation with a wreath. When it comes to your look, you can stick to the trendy colors of Christmas 2023, or give free rein to your inspiration. Although the 100% plant-based look is great, you can of course integrate decorations: Christmas balls, light garlands, tartan pattern bows, etc.
A chill and magical exterior for Christmas
The garden or terrace can seem quite empty once the outdoor furniture is carefully packed for the winter. What if you brought them out for the holidays? Now is the time to create a stunning and, above all, friendly decor.
Spending New Year’s Eve in the moonlight can be literally refreshing! The solution ? Take out the brazier to warm up, of course! And we add a collection of candles to spruce up the decor and create a more intimate atmosphere. Without forgetting the throws – these essential decorative accessories for Christmas 2023, which also have the advantage of keeping us warm.
Large basketwork to highlight the plant decoration, guinguette garland, bamboo lantern, cushions and throw: the Scandi atmosphere is a perfect choice for creating a magical and comfortable exterior for Christmas.
