The railway terminated an employee who had drawn attention to grievances. Now, surprisingly, the state-owned company has largely given in: the ex-employee receives a good reference and a high severance payment.

Allegedly, this employee could no longer be expected of his employer, Deutsche Bahn. The quality and safety inspector Anatol Jung, who early and vehemently addressed serious deficiencies in the rail network, is said to have committed all sorts of crimes. He is said to have repeatedly pretended to be unable to work. And is said to have “regularly committed a complete fraud” in this way. He is said to have insulted and slandered colleagues and managers. And he is said to have destroyed official documents. The result of all these allegations by Deutsche Bahn: several layoffs, some of them without notice.
