How the Bundeswehr prepares for emergencies · ARD Audiothek

Suddenly the Bundeswehr is very close to the war in Ukraine. While high-ranking politicians are discussing war and peace at the Munich Security Conference, German Eurofighter pilots are securing the airspace in Estonia, a very delicate mission – and mountain troops from Bad Reichenhall are being relocated to Slovakia. This episode of 11KM: the tagesschau podcast is about how German soldiers are doing on the eastern border of NATO, how they are currently rehearsing for emergencies and how they want to prevent war from crossing the border. BR reporter Kilian Neuwert traveled with Bundeswehr soldiers to the easternmost NATO countries. You can hear impressions of this trip from February 19th in the BR24 reportage by Kilian Neuwert and see them as a TV film from February 24th. We will then update the links in the 11KM show notes for this episode.
