In order to better cope with the onslaught of autumn vacationers on Mallorca, the airport has introduced separate lanes for vaccinated and unvaccinated people. A politician doesn’t fit that into the party program – he pisses off tourists with his unspeakable comparison.

In the summer, the Balearic Islands were temporarily classified as a high-risk corona area. That put off many potential Mallorca vacationers. They preferred to postpone their stay on the island to a later time window in autumn.

The airport of Palma is experiencing a new wave of travelers these days, especially from Germany. Eurowings and the holiday airline Condor have increased their flight frequencies due to the good booking situation. Airports like Munich or Hamburg handle up to three flights to Palma within an hour.

As has been customary for months at Spanish airports, passengers arriving from abroad must present the “health authority form” (FCS). To do this, you have to go to the website beforehand https://spth.gob.es an online form must be filled out and, among other things, the address at the holiday destination must be given.

You will then receive a confirmation by email with a QR code to print out or to show on your smartphone upon arrival in Spain.

In order to speed up the controls at the Aeroport de Son Sant Joan on Mallorca, the authorities set up a switch at the beginning of October: all those who have not been vaccinated (“sensa vacuna”) line up in the red line, and all in the green line (“amb vacuna”) Travelers with proof of vaccination and recovery.

According to the newspaper “Ultima Hora”, which quotes a press spokesman for the Ministry of Health, the reason is: “Passengers without a vaccination certificate simply have to show more documents. Including a questionnaire and a negative corona test. This process is therefore slower.”

Propaganda from the right-wing camp

The fact is that in the past there were long queues for the time-consuming and labor-intensive checking of the papers. The people stood tightly packed without a minimum distance of 1.5 meters between the people was maintained.

Most travelers have welcomed the new signage at Palma Airport. There were protests against the new regulation by vaccination opponents and the far-right party Vox Baleares. Its spokesman, Jorge Campos Asensi, called on Twitter to “skip the unbearable discrimination”, which is tantamount to calling on citizens to act illegally.

In his tweet, the politician even tries to make the absurd comparison with wearing the yellow Star of David in the Third Reich, thus trivializing the Holocaust. “It’s one step from here to sewing a star on clothing.”
