John Maynard Keynes was so wrong and so right at the same time. technical progress, prophesied the British economist in his essay “Economic Possibilities of Our Grandchildren” from 1930, will lead to great prosperity, economic output per hour worked will grow rapidly, grandchildren will be four to eight times wealthier than his generation. He was right about that. What’s more, the world as a whole, especially the industrialized countries, are now much richer than he expected.
