How a Munich association gets children to read – Munich

Learning to read – something that should be a given no longer works for all primary school children. The Munich association Lesefüchse has been trying to awaken the desire to read for 20 years. The issue is more urgent than ever.

You’ve heard it many times before, but perhaps you just need to hear it more often because it’s so frightening: schools are failing to teach all children to read. Studies show this again and again. And Hans-Peter Meier and Stefan Inderst also feel this in primary schools in Munich. “Every day we see that our offspring are finding it increasingly difficult to learn to read,” says Hans-Peter Meier, volunteer reader and member of the board of the Lesefüchse association.
