Housing: what rent caps bring – and what not – economy

For some, the rent cap is the ideal solution to affordable living, for others it is a brake on investment. The rent cap existed in Berlin for a little over a year, until the Federal Constitutional Court declared the law null and void in March. There are many studies that have come to different conclusions about the effect of this highly controversial regulation, which included rent ceilings, rent reductions and a limitation on the modernization surcharge.
