Oliver Pocher makes viewers cry at the SWR summer festival

The SWR summer festival took place on Sunday evening. Program highlight of the event: Comedian Oliver Pocher. The 46-year-old said on Instagram afterwards that it was a “super evening in Stuttgart” for him. For at least one of his viewers, it was hell.

During his performance, Pocher also tried again and again at so-called “crowdwork”, i.e. directly addressing the audience or individual spectators. Over the course of one evening, the comedian satirized one woman in particular.

Oliver Pocher turns woman into a “running gag”

She answered one of his questions by saying that she had never had a relationship or sex. The festival visitor then became the recurring theme, the “running gag,” of Pocher’s performance.

Many viewers found it inappropriate for the comedian to question a viewer about her intimate life in such a way. After the show, the visibly shaken woman turned to SWR and asked not to broadcast this sequence.

She was previously a fan of Oliver Pocher and accepted that he made a laughing stock of her on the Schlossplatz. However, she didn’t want her employer and her colleagues to find out about it.

SWR keeps its distance

At first, the SWR expressed caution and did not distance itself from Pocher’s impossible behavior. However, after the shitstorm of the last few days, the station gave in.

For the SWR, such hurtful exposures would have no place in a public service offering. Pocher was intended to appeal to an audience that would otherwise be inadequately served. Unfortunately, in this case, this attempt was a complete failure, according to the broadcaster.
