Famous aristocrats, actors and politicians used to be guests at the Grand Hotel Continental. However, a new book misses the opportunity to adequately honor this dazzling piece of Munich cultural history.
At the beginning of July 1994, the last act of a play takes place in Munich, in which, over the course of a century, important politicians, illustrious rulers of the European aristocracy, world-famous actors and first-class writers took part. An auction has been announced – not just any, but a very special one. What goes under the hammer are items from a house that has played a significant role in Munich’s hotel history and thus in the city’s cultural history. The entire interior of the Grand Hotel Continental will be auctioned off. Crystal chandeliers are for sale, along with carpets, china, bedding, velvet curtains, gleaming chrome bathroom fixtures, lamps, garden sculptures and much more.
