Hostage-taker dead after police access in Altmarktgalerie: three hostages safe

The chairwoman of the German Association of Journalists (DJV) in Saxony, Ine Dippmann, said of the events in Dresden: “I am appalled that editorial offices have become targets in this brutal way.” Her sympathy goes to the employees of Radio Dresden, Hitradio RTL, the dead and the hostages. “For us as DJV, the fundamental question arises as to whether and how journalistic institutions can be better protected. In Saxony, too, there are repeated attacks on editorial offices and media workers.” That should be the subject of talks between the DJV, the police and the Ministry of the Interior, according to Dippmann, who herself works as an editor for Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk.
