Emma Bachl, 15, is considered the best young German rider. The fact that she is now riding at professional level with her father for the first time is a result of hard work: After a major fire ten years ago, the family found their existence in ruins.
The life’s work of three generations went up in thick black smoke before their eyes. The fire broke out in a barn on the night of August 3rd to 4th, 2013. Suddenly Gut Fasselsberg was on fire. To this day, no one knows why, only that everything happened much too quickly: strong westerly winds, dry straw – within minutes the centuries-old four-sided courtyard near Pfarrkirchen was engulfed in flames. Nobody could go into the stables to save the horses. Helpless and desperate, the Bachls and their employees had to watch as everything burned down.
