A man dies of cardiopulmonary arrest

End of the “party”. A man aged around thirty died on Sunday morning of cardiorespiratory arrest while he participated in an undeclared rave party organized since Thursday in Parnay, near Saumur.

The victim was treated very quickly by the emergency services but unfortunately died on the spot, said the sub-prefect of Saumur, Christophe Carol. A judicial investigation was opened under the authority of the Saumur public prosecutor.

A forbidden rave

The illegal “party”, established on agricultural land without authorization, attracted some 10,000 people according to the Maine-et-Loire prefecture. It ended at midday on Sunday and many participants have already started to leave the site.

Revelers came from all over France to take part in this event which took neighboring towns and the authorities by surprise despite a prefectural decree prohibiting festive gatherings throughout the long Ascension Bridge weekend.

The Maine-et-Loire prefecture notably denounced the absence of sanitary facilities and access to drinking water on the site, private agricultural land lost in the middle of vineyards on the edge of a wood.

200 people supported by emergency services

Friday afternoon, more than 24 hours after the arrival of the first revelers, local authorities had to install a temporary water point nearby, an AFP journalist noted. Authorities were also concerned about access difficulties for emergency vehicles.

At midday on Sunday, around 200 people had been treated by rescuers and firefighters present at the rave party site, and at least ten were transported to hospital, said the sub-prefect of Saumur. .
