Everything that arouses fear and disgust: The Düsseldorf Kunstpalast shows the imagery of horror in art, film, fashion and music and casts the curatorial net very wide.
You can already experience a few shocking moments in the Düsseldorf Kunstpalast: Gregor Schneider’s “Man with Cock”, a doll with a garbage bag pulled over its head and an erection, is reliably creepy, and the human body pieces suspended like pig halves, which the American artist Doreen Garner, alias ” King Cobra”, hung in a neon-lit box, does not fail to have an effect. It should be so. The Kunstpalast’s autumn exhibition entitled “Death and the Devil” has set itself the task of nothing less than a cultural reassessment of the horror genre and the examination of its imagery in fashion, music, film and visual art.
