The public prosecutor’s office is investigating a 32-year-old person who was found at the scene of the crime in the Isar-Amper-Klinik with a lighter and an iron bar in his hand. It’s still unclear where she got the items from.

In the case of the killed 40-year-old patient at the Isar-Amper-Klinik in Haar near Munich, the public prosecutor’s office is investigating for murder. She sees the characteristic of cruelty fulfilled, which distinguishes the act from manslaughter, spokeswoman Juliane Grotz announced on Wednesday. A 32-year-old person who was arrested in the hospital on Tuesday is an urgent suspect. She was also being treated there on Monday because of a threat to others, which the police did not want to explain in more detail. The victim suffered massive head injuries.

At around 10 a.m. on Tuesday, according to the police, mountains of clothing and mattresses in the victim’s bathroom were on fire. There, the helpers found the suspect with a thin iron rod about 40 centimeters long in his left hand and a lighter in his right, said Stephan Beer, head of the Munich homicide squad, describing the findings so far. When she left the room she said she had killed someone. During the clean-up work, the woman’s body was found under the mountains of clothes and mattresses. She was autopsied on Wednesday.

The police deliberately speak of a suspect because their gender is not clear. Officially she is male, but looks female. She described herself as diverse. After leaving the room, she was immediately pinned down by employees and placed in another room. In the meantime, the public prosecutor’s office has applied for a court order to place him in a psychiatric ward, because it can be assumed that the criminal liability is reduced or that he is incapacitated.

How the 32-year-old person got into the room of the later victim has yet to be determined. According to the police, it is a closed department, but individual patients have access or can move freely around the station. Some patient rooms are equipped with an entrance chip module similar to those in hotels, including the room of the woman who was killed. It was also unclear on Wednesday where the iron rod came from. The police suspect that it could be a piece of furniture. So far, investigators have also been puzzled as to where the lighter could have come from.
