Holosolis invests 700 million euros in a solar panel factory

On Monday, during the “Choose France” summit, Emmanuel Macron will officially announce the establishment of a photovoltaic panel production plant in Sarreguemines, in Moselle. An investment of “700 million” euros representing 1,700 jobs, said on Sunday, on FranceinfoIndustry Minister Roland Lescure.

“For years, we have subsidized photovoltaic panels that were made at the end of the world, now we are going to have photovoltaic panels Made in France”, he welcomed, confirming information from Sunday newspaper. According to our colleagues, the project is carried by Holosolis, an offshoot of the InnoEnergy group, which counts Siemens, the CEA and several European universities among its shareholders.

Entry into service in 2025

The photovoltaic cell production plant should come into service in 2025 and have a capacity of five gigawatts in the long term, specifies the weekly. “It’s concrete ecology, we’re going to manufacture the products we’re going to consume in France, […] we are going to create jobs in France”, welcomed Roland Lescure. The deputy (LR) of Moselle Vincent Seitlinger was also delighted with this investment, welcoming on Facebook “very good news for our local economy”.

The announcement must be made official on Monday, during the “Choose France” summit during which the French president brings together heads of foreign companies at the Palace of Versailles in order to attract foreign investment.
