Holocaust survivor Jack Terry is dead. The American died last Sunday after a serious illness at the age of 92 near Munich. This has now been confirmed by the director of the Flossenbürg concentration camp memorial, Jörg Skriebeleit.
Immigrated to the USA after being liberated from the concentration camp
Terry was born Jakub Szabmacher in Poland and survived the Flossenbürg concentration camp. An American soldier made it possible for the then 15-year-old to enter the USA after the liberation. There he was adopted by the Terry family.
Major contribution to Holocaust processing in the Upper Palatinate
