Sofia Coppola is adapting Priscilla Presley’s memoirs

The film by the US director is scheduled to hit the big screen in the fall. The first trailer has already been released.
With “Priscilla”, US director Sofia Coppola (52, “Lost in Translation”, “On the Rocks”) tells the love story of Priscilla and Elvis Presley – from the point of view of young Priscilla, who is the king of rock ‘n’ roll met teenagers.
The first trailer for the biopic, which is set to hit theaters in October, has now been released. The American Cailee Spaeny (“Mare of Easttown”) and the Australian Jacob Elordi (“Euphoria”) play the leading roles.
It is based on the 1985 memoirs (“Elvis and Me”) by Priscilla Presley, who was married to Elvis from 1967 to 1973. The 78-year-old later made a name for herself as an actress (“Dallas”, “The Naked Gun”).
Everything started in Germany
Their love began in Germany. Priscilla Beaulieu’s stepfather was stationed in Hesse. It was there in 1959 that the fateful first encounter of the 14-year-old with the “Love Me Tender” star took place. They married in Las Vegas in 1967, and their daughter Lisa Marie was born nine months later. After the divorce in 1973, neither of them remarried.
Most recently, director Baz Luhrmann told the story of Elvis Presley (Austin Butler) from the perspective of his manager Tom Parker (Tom Hanks) with “Elvis” (2022). Australian Olivia DeJonge starred as Priscilla.
Coppola received an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay in 2004 for her feature film Lost in Translation. She most recently directed the comedy-drama On the Rocks (2020) with Bill Murray.
