SC Magdeburg has had a hard time in Lemgo for a long time. In the end, the cup winner manages to make the preliminary decision in the championship fight.

The handball players of SC Magdeburg have continued their successful run and are close to winning the Bundesliga championship title.

The Champions League winner won against TBV Lemgo Lippe 34:28 (11:12) and maintained his lead in the table over Füchse Berlin. The capital club had previously prevailed against VfL Gummersbach with 29:26 (16:12).

However, the Magdeburgers found it much more difficult than expected due to a high error rate. Lemgo kept the game balanced and even took the lead with two goals in the second half. It was only towards the end that the team around national player Tim Hornke was able to pull away – also thanks to numerous time penalties against the hosts.

Both Magdeburg and Berlin currently have 52 plus points. However, the SCM has a significantly better goal difference and has two fewer games in its account. After their triumph in the DHB Cup, the people of Elbestadt are hoping for a triple this season. Coach Bennet Wiegert’s team is also in the final tournament of the Champions League.

For the Foxes, after almost losing the championship title, it’s still about qualifying for the premier class. With the shock win against Gummersbach, the Berliners maintained their comfortable lead over third-placed Flensburg and thus took a big step towards the Champions League. The North Germans beat TBV Stuttgart 39:31 on Saturday.
