Rescue of Colombian children from jungle is filmed

Just weeks after the tragic plane crash with a cinematic twist, Hollywood has its say as the story of the children who survived 40 days in the rainforest comes to the big screen.
The survival story of four children rescued more than a month after a small plane crashed in the Colombian rainforest is set to be made into a feature film. “I’m thrilled to hear the story of this To tell children how they were able to survive thanks to their special relationship with nature from birth,” director Gaz Alazraki (“The Father of the Bride”) told the US industry portal “Deadline.com” on Tuesday Perseverance and her wisdom are amazing.
Studio Exile Content, part of the Californian media company Candle Media, announced the project on Twitter. In addition to Alazraki as director and screenwriter, the Colombian journalist Daniel Coronell is also involved.
Indigenous origin played a role
Search parties found the children in early June after 40 days in the rainforest. They crashed in the wilderness on May 1st with a propeller plane – and then had to fend for themselves. On May 16, more than two weeks after the accident, members of the Colombian army’s special forces reached the wreckage of the plane and found the bodies of the pilot, the mother and an indigenous leader.
The siblings – a boy and three girls aged 1 to 13 – belong to an indigenous community. Their knowledge of the region may have helped them survive in the jungle. They subsisted on wild passion fruit and mangoes, as well as food packages dropped by the military.
Hollywood often picks up on dramatic survival stories. Last year, Oscar winner Ron Howard released the feature film “Thirteen Lives” about the cave drama in Thailand, where in 2018 a twelve-man youth soccer team and their coach disappeared in a flooded cave. People all over the world watched the daring rescue operation for days.
