Actor Benedict Cumberbatch has recently been immortalized on Hollywood’s “Walk of Fame”. The Briton thanks the ceremony – and expresses his support for the people of Ukraine.

Actor Benedict Cumberbatch (45) has unveiled a star plaque with his name on Hollywood’s “Walk of Fame”.

This is an “extraordinary honor,” said the Brit, visibly moved, in front of hundreds of fans and photographers. He received the 2714th plaque on the famous sidewalk. Cumberbatch became known with the television series “Sherlock” and through his superhero role as “Doctor Strange”.

As guest speakers, director JJ Abrams (“Star Trek Into Darkness”) and Marvel producer Kevin Feige praised the actor’s merits.

Serious nuances

Cumberbatch also struck a serious note during the ceremony. He spoke about Corona victims, the climate crisis and the war in Ukraine. He wants to show his support for the people of Ukraine, but also for the people of Russia who are rebelling against their rulers. “We must act,” said the actor. Everyone can do something, such as supporting human rights organizations or putting pressure on politicians, the Brit appealed.

Cumberbatch is in the Oscar race at the end of March as the lead actor in the western drama “The Power of the Dog”. In 2015, the Brit was nominated for his leading role in the drama “The Imitation Game – A Top Secret Life” at the Academy Awards.
