The closure of Autobahn 3 near Höchstadt an der Aisch (Erlangen-Höchstadt district), which has been ongoing since Wednesday evening, was lifted early Friday morning. Traffic is moving again without restrictions, the police said. Due to a damaged power line, the A3 between Pommersfelden and Höchstadt-Ost had to be completely closed in both directions.
A power line was torn down during construction work, the police said in a statement. A construction worker got stuck with his 28 meter high drilling excavator on the overhead lines of a power line leading over the A3. Two of the four cables were reportedly torn off. The remaining cables were also damaged and threatened to fall onto the highway. According to police reports, no one was injured in the industrial accident.
