High-voltage cables cause fire at Fabre museum

A fire broke out on Wednesday at the Fabre museum in Montpellier (Hérault). The firefighters intervened in the morning, after the sudden triggering of a detector, within this prestigious setting. They carried out a quick reconnaissance of the site, and quickly noticed that it was a high voltage cable fire, in an Enedis electrical room. The fire was extinguished using a powder extinguisher.

No works displayed in the museum were affected, and no one was injured. However, visitors and employees were evacuated as a precaution. Art lovers were able to once again enjoy the museum’s collections in the afternoon. Many businesses were, however, without electricity in several neighborhoods due to the disaster.
