High school Ottobrunn wins robot competition of the “First Lego League” – District of Munich

In the regional robot competition of the “First Lego League”, the robotics team from the Ottobrunn Gymnasium named “Go Robot” has been crowned champion. The seven students prevailed against eleven other teams and took top positions in the four disciplines of the competition. In the research discipline, Go Robot took third place with a concept for intelligent garbage cans that use sensors to report when they need to be emptied, and a corresponding prototype. The Ottobrunn-based company took second place in the discipline of basic values ​​for the successful integration of new team members. They also took second place in the design discipline with the new “Spike” robot system and the rewriting of all their programs in the Python programming language. Go Robot took first place in the “Robot Game” discipline, in which the Ottobrunn students’ robot achieved the maximum result of 600 points. This makes the Ottobrunner the only team that was in the top three in all disciplines. The First Lego League’s annual robot competition is designed to give students easier access to technical subjects. After this year’s success, the team from the Ottobrunn Gymnasium will travel to the qualifying competition in Siegen, where the starting places for the final will be decided.
