Hezbollah congratulates its Iranian ally

This is unsurprising support for Tehran. The Lebanese Hezbollah movement congratulated Iran on Sunday for its massive attack carried out overnight from Saturday to Sunday on Israel.

In a statement, the powerful Shiite group backed by Iran offered its “congratulations” to its ally for its “unprecedented” attack against their common enemy Israel, assuring that it had “achieved” its military objectives “despite the participation of the United States and its international allies (…) to the response.”

More than 300 drones and missiles against Israel

The Lebanese movement also welcomed Tehran’s “courageous and wise decision to respond firmly to the Zionist attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus”, Syria.

Iran launched more than 300 drones and missiles against Israel on Saturday evening, in response to a strike against its consulate on April 1 in Damascus, blamed on Israel and in which seven Iranian soldiers died. Saturday’s attack is the first ever carried out directly by Iran against Israeli territory. It was “thwarted” and “99% of the shots” were intercepted, according to the Israeli army.

Hezbollah, an ally of Hamas

While this attack was taking place, Hezbollah announced that it had launched two salvos of Katyusha rockets at Israeli military positions located in the Israeli-occupied Syrian Golan. These attacks are a continuation of the anti-Israeli operations claimed by the Lebanese Islamist group for six months against Israel.

Since the start of the war in the Gaza Strip between Israel and Hamas on October 7, there have been daily exchanges of fire between the Israeli army and Hezbollah, Hamas’s ally. The Israeli air force, for its part, carried out several raids on Sunday on localities in the south and east of Lebanon.
