“He’s going to kill her”… On TikTok, a young woman’s heartbreaking call to Emmanuel Macron

“My dear president, he is going to kill her. He is going to do it. Maybe tomorrow, in six months or in a year. There are some who wait for years for the right time to come. » In a video published on the social network TikTok, a young woman calls out to the President of the Republic on the inaction of the justice system in the face of domestic violence, even though it is a “great cause of the five-year term”. Published six days ago, the video – a letter read in front of the camera for more than five minutes – has accumulated more than two million views.

Nicknamed “Brocéliande”, the young woman explains the situation of her mother, victim of violence at the hands of her ex-partner. “After months of fearing separation, she finally found the courage to do it, and he, after months of begging her to come back, saw that it wasn’t working. So one evening, he waited, hiding all night downstairs from our house, and while she was returning from a party with friends, he attacked her,” she assures, specifying that that night , he promised to kill her. The young woman claims that the man sometimes spends several hours outside his mother’s home, follows her everywhere and systematically finds her.

Despite the complaint, numerous testimonies attesting to the family’s nightmarish daily life and several handrails, the young woman ensures that the protection order – a measure which aims to keep away the violent spouse – was revoked on appeal. “A judge has just decided not to protect a mother and her children because “maybe she is lying”. Dear President, we are not talking about a conviction but a simple protection order prohibiting him from coming near us. »

Currently, the law sets a maximum of six months for the protection order and its renewal is only possible in the event of a change in family situation (divorce, a request linked to parental authority). A bill aimed at doubling its duration was adopted by deputies at the beginning of March.

“If it is necessary to bring a body as ultimate proof”

In a voice message at the end of the video, the mother of “Brocéliande” confides her dismay at this situation. If she is still equipped with a serious danger telephone, she struggles to understand this decision. “I don’t know if it is necessary to bring as ultimate proof a body, a corpse of myself or one of my children for this judge to realize the extent of what we are experiencing and the consequences and the magnitude of its decisions. »
