Hérault and Gard on snow and ice vigilance, we are close to cold records

We’re freezing in Languedoc. Gard and Hérault were placed on yellow alert for snow and ice on Monday. The cold snap, which has suddenly hit these two departments in recent hours, has even come close to a few records.

This Monday morning, it was, for example – 4 ° C on waking, at the Météo-France station in Nîmes-Courbessac (Gard). This is the coldest temperature recorded at this place since February 2018. It had been, that month, up to – 6.2 ° C, on February 27, reports Météo-France. The mercury recorded on Monday is also the coldest recorded for a month of December since December 18, 2010. That day, the thermometer had dropped to – 5.1 ° C.

In Montpellier (Hérault), too, it was very cold on Monday morning. The Météo-France airport station recorded – 5 ° C, the equivalent, notes the meteorological center, of a “strong frost”.
