Heat wave in Bavaria: high risk of forest fires – severe weather on Thursday – Bavaria

The heat in Bavaria will continue in the coming days. Up to 39 degrees should be reached on Wednesday in Lower Franconia, for example, and it will be hot elsewhere. On Thursday it will be 26 to 29 degrees a little cooler before the temperatures will exceed 30 degrees again at the weekend, as reported by the German Weather Service (DWD).

With the cooling on Thursday, severe thunderstorms and showers will also come to Bavaria. However, this is not sufficient for large-scale irrigation of dry fields and forests. On Wednesday evening, the first rain clouds should reach Bavaria, which will cover the whole of Free State, as a meteorologist from the DWD in Munich explained. On Thursday, showers and thunderstorms are possible, especially from the Bavarian Forest to Werdenfelser Land. “It is always difficult to predict how this precipitation will be distributed,” says the expert.

On Friday the rain will be over again and it will be summery hot and dry again. A few showers are only possible at the edge of the Alps. Although there should be isolated rain showers again on Saturday, meteorologists currently see no relaxation, especially with regard to the looming risk of forest fires in Bavaria. In Franconia in particular, the risk of forest fires will level off at level 4 – this is the second highest on the scale. “Every drop helps,” says the expert in Munich. But in order to be able to give the all-clear for the time being, it has to rain again for two days.
