When the phone rings at the Obermeier heating plant in Berg am Laim these days, and it has been doing that much more often than it used to for some time now, boss Olaf Zimmermann already has an inkling of what the caller’s request might be. According to the heating engineer from Munich, two or three times a week interested parties who wanted to replace their gas or oil heating as quickly as possible got in touch, says Zimmermann – “for fear that it will soon be banned”. Finally, Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens) plans to amend the Building Energy Act. And according to the draft, the new installation of pure oil and gas heating systems should be prohibited from 2024.
