Top jobs for almost 200 civil servants: In many ministries and authorities there has apparently been another strong promotion recently. Chancellery Minister Braun has now issued a warning.

A new federal government could start work in just a few weeks. Meanwhile, the outgoing grand coalition apparently still provides numerous civil servants with top jobs in ministries and authorities. This was reported by the “Business Insider” portal.

In the interior, economy, finance, labor, defense and justice departments alone, as well as in the Chancellery, almost 200 civil servants have been promoted to top jobs with so-called B salaries in the past few weeks. “Business Insider” relies on “partially internal documents of the ministries”. It is about lucrative jobs with monthly basic salaries from 7123 euros.

“Political restraint is required”

Chancellery Minister Helge Braun has now issued a letter warning his ministerial colleagues to refrain from promotions and tenders for new projects. In the letter from which the “Bild am Sonntag” quoted, Braun wrote: “In order to avoid prejudice to the future federal government, particular political restraint is required when passing resolutions on personal details that are subject to a cabinet.”

Any transport that is still planned “is subject to my express reservation”. The ministers should also refrain from restructuring in the ministry and from tenders “for political-strategic projects or public relations measures,” Braun continued.

According to “Business Insider”, 117 positions with a B salary in the Bundeswehr have been filled in the Federal Defense Ministry alone since April of this year or are to be filled in the next few weeks. According to “Business Insider”, this included positions such as the deputy head of the HR department, which had been vacant since 2018. It was reoccupied at the end of September.
