An interview with Joanne K. Rowling: This offer was about as exciting to me as the letter from Hogwarts was to Harry Potter. Sure, I know the author’s problematic statements on transgender issues, I didn’t live in a closet under the stairs. I still like your books though. Someone who writes like that must be a special person in some way. Perhaps a particularly strenuous person. That’s what I thought when I opened the email with the details of the interview. I used to think of an interview as a conversation in which I asked questions, including critical ones. Rowling has a slightly more creative interpretation.
