Hardy Kruger Jr. fought his alcohol addiction for years. In 2013, the actor had to be resuscitated in intensive care.

Hardy Kruger Jr. (53) speaks openly about his previous alcohol addiction. in the Interview with “Bild am Sonntag” the actor remembers the sudden infant death syndrome (2011) of his son Paul-Luca. At the time, he tried to fight grief through excessive alcohol consumption. In November 2013, he ended up in the intensive care unit – Krüger was threatened with multiple organ failure. “I was dead for a moment and was brought back with a defibrillator,” he reveals.

For 25 years he had “put a lot to his body” – the actor often reached into the wine rack: “There were already seven bottles a day. I had to keep my level. Alcohol made me calm and concentrated for 16 hours in front of the camera to stand. ” A colleague warned him in 2012: “If you continue like this, you will die.”

After a withdrawal and thanks to the treatment by professional doctors, he is fine today. Nevertheless, the 53-year-old is cautious: “An alcohol relapse could be fatal for me. My organs might no longer cooperate.” In his new book “Turning Points: How I drew strength from change” he would like to give confidence to other affected people. “I hope that people learn to talk about their alcohol problem, that it is okay if you show weakness. We are everything, but not perfect,” says the “Forsthaus Falkenau” actor.
