Hans-Joachim Watzke becomes the new chairman of the supervisory board of the German Football League. The 62-year-old manager of the Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund was elected as expected successor to Peter Peters at the general meeting in Frankfurt am Main on Tuesday. Peters will give up the post on February 11 of the coming year and will apply for the post of president of the German Football Association in March 2022.

Farewell to the DFL also took on managing director on Tuesday Christian Seifert. After more than 15 years at the helm of the umbrella organization of German professional football, the 52-year-old wants to turn to new tasks. Donata Hopfen will succeed Seifert on January 1, 2022.
