The Bonn Regional Court has sentenced tax attorney Hanno Berger, also known as “Mr. Cum-Ex”, to eight years in prison. The court found him guilty of three counts of particularly serious tax evasion between 2006 and 2011. According to the indictment, this caused tax damage of more than 270 million euros. According to the court, Berger played a central role in the accused deals, had advised the deals and later mediated wealthy investors. He should pay back more than 13 million euros that he had earned with the accused cum-ex deals.
