Hanna W. murder trial: Defense files motion for bias – Bavaria

The emails are written in a familiar, trusting tone. “Jacqu,” writes the prosecutor. “Wolfgang,” replies the presiding judge. People know each other and are on first name terms. This is even permitted in German courts, where otherwise very formal interactions are maintained. But whether what was discussed in the emails was okay is what is being discussed this week at the Traunstein Regional Court following a request for bias by the defense against the three judges of the 2nd Youth Chamber.
