Handybank – N26 receives fresh money – economy

The Berlin cell phone bank N26 has raised more than $ 900 million in a major new financing round. The investors included the New York-based US investors Third Point Ventures and Coatue Management, as the company announced in Berlin on Monday. This means that N26 is now valued at over nine billion dollars and is the most valuable German fintech company. The company wants to use the money to expand its digital banking app and hire several hundred employees. N26 recently hit the headlines because of deficiencies in the fight against money laundering. The bank announced on Monday that the supervisory authority had ordered the company to initially grow with a maximum of 70,000 new customers per month in Europe.
